What Year Did Fax Machines Come Out

Fax machines, also known as facsimile machines, have been around for quite some time. They were first developed in the early 1840s. But it wasn’t until the 1960s that the technology began to take shape in the form that we recognize today.

In 1964, Xerox Corporation introduced the first commercialized version of a fax machine, called the Xerox Telecopier. This machine used a form of analog technology to transmit images over phone lines. The machine worked by scanning a document. Encoding the image into a series of electrical signals, transmitting the signals over a phone line. And then decoding the signals back into an image on the receiving end.

While the Xerox Telecopier was the first commercially available fax machine, it was quite expensive and bulky. As a result, it was primarily used by businesses and governments for transmitting important documents.

The first practical and affordable fax machine was developed by Matsushita Electric (Panasonic) in 1976. This machine helped to make fax technology more accessible to small businesses and individuals.
